Replace Missing Teeth With Dental Implants

Do you have one or more missing teeth? Are you embarrassed by your smile because you do have missing teeth? In the past, many people have relied on dentures to replace missing teeth. However, there is a better solution today and they are called dental implants.

What Is A Dental Implant?

To put it in its simplest terms, a dental implant is a man-made tooth root. It is generally made out of titanium and is placed in the bone of your jaw. An abutment is then screwed into the implant and a porcelain crown is placed on the abutment. Dental implants are very strong and can give you a natural and beautiful smile.

The Problems Of Having Missing Teeth

Missing teeth are not just unsightly but they can also cause other problems with your oral health.  One of these problems is bone loss.  When there is a missing tooth, the bone tends to deteriorate where the tooth once was.  This can also cause the other teeth around where the missing tooth is to move and shift causing problems with your bite. This can lead to unnecessary wear on the teeth and jaw pain.

Do You Want To Look Younger?

Missing teeth can often alter the way your face looks and can make you look older than you really are. When a tooth falls out or is removed, the jawbone will automatically start to shrink making the face look as if it is pinched together.  Over time, this leads to wrinkles and sagging cheeks.

Dentures or partials cannot address this issue adequately.  That’s why dental implants are the absolute best solution for replacing missing teeth.

The 3 Types of Implants

There are basically three kinds of dental implants. There are single tooth dental implants which are commonly used when someone only has one or two or at the most three teeth missing.

The second type of dental implant is what is called “all-on-four.” With this type of treatment, four implants are placed in the lower and upper arch.  Once the implants are placed, a set of hybrid dentures are made to fit on top of the implants. This type of treatment option gives you a much better result as well is a very beautiful and natural looking smile.

The third type of dental implant is similar to “all-on-four.” Instead of placing four implants, six implants are placed in the upper and lower arch and the hybrid denture is then screwed into the implants.

Dental implants will give you the absolute best result for your missing teeth. There are several benefits to dental implants which are as follows:

  • They are the next best thing to natural teeth
  • They are a long-term solution
  • You can retain your natural smile
  • You get to keep your teeth in your mouth

If you are a denture wearer, dental implants may be a wonderful solution for you. There will be no more gooey creams or putting your teeth in a glass. You will be able to enjoy your food and taste it once again.
