IMMEDIATE, REMOVABLE AND LOCK-IN DENTURES

Here at Suncreek Family Dentistry, we realize that not everyone’s smile and mouth is the same. That’s why we offer a variety of dental solutions to suit each patient’s individual need.

Missing teeth has become a problem for many patients.  They lose their teeth due to decay, trauma or gum disease and then end up searching for a solution to fix the embarrassing gap that is left behind by having no teeth.

Dental Solutions: Types of Dentures

Dentures are typically used to replace gaps caused by missing teeth. To cater to your specific needs, we at Suncreek Family Dentistry offer these solutions:

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures, as the name suggests, are inserted into the mouth on the same day your remaining teeth are removed. The advantage – you don’t go a day without teeth!

During the initial consultation, impressions of your teeth will be taken and the choice of color and shape for your new teeth will be recorded. At your second appointment, all natural teeth will be removed (generally under IV sedation) and the denture inserted. Follow-ups will be required to realign and adjust the denture as your jawbone and gums heal. After three to six months, final realigning will be performed to refit your denture according to the gums and jaw contour.

Removable Partial Dentures

Removable partial/partial dentures replace one or more teeth. These are created using all-acrylic or acrylic with a metal base which enhances strength. They are a costlier alternative to attached bridges, but when enough natural teeth are not available for fixed bridges, partials are the best and only option.

Partials must be worn throughout the day. They should always be removed at night to allow your gums to relax and prevents the development of dental fungal infections.

Lock-in Dentures

An implant supported denture requires the placement of implants into the upper or lower arch.  Abutments are then screwed into the implants.  The newly fashioned denture is then placed on the implants and screwed down for a permanent solution.

This is a really nice option for those who want to stabilize their dentures.  Just think about it.  No more goo to hold your dentures in or taking them out at night and putting them into a glass or jar.
