If I Have To Have A Tooth Pulled, What Are My Options For Replacing Missing Teeth?

Missing teeth are cute on kids, but for adults, they can be a real source of embarrassment.  This is not to mention that missing teeth cause other oral health problems such as bone loss and shifting of the remaining teeth.

There are a few options for replacing missing teeth:

  • Partial
  • Bridge
  • Full Denture (If all your teeth are missing)
  • Single Tooth Dental Implant
  • Fixed Hybrid Bridge (Also known as All On Four or Teeth In A Day)

Each one of these has different pros and cons as to their uses and benefits.  However, the absolute best way to replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant.  An implant is basically a man-made tooth root that is placed into the bone.  An abutment is screwed into the implant and a crown is then placed on top of the abutment.  This is a permanent solution unlike partials or removable bridges.

If all your teeth are missing and you want a permanent solution, then an implant-supported hybrid bridge or what some call a fixed denture is the best solution.  Four to six implants are placed precisely in your lower or upper arch.  A set of dentures are then made to be placed on the implants and screwed down for a permanent fit.  They look natural and are very strong.  They also give you a really beautiful smile.

If you have to have one or more teeth pulled, it is always best to get them replaced.  We will be glad to talk with you about your options for replacing missing teeth and go over any budgetary concerns you may have with each option.  Call us today at 214-547-1010.
