If I Have To Have A Tooth Pulled, What Are My Options For Replacing Missing Teeth?
Missing teeth are cute on kids, but for adults, they can be a real source of embarrassment. This is not to mention that missing teeth cause other oral health problems such as bone loss and shifting of the remaining teeth.
There are a few options for replacing missing teeth:
- Full Denture (If all your teeth are missing)
- Single Tooth Dental Implant
- Fixed Hybrid Bridge (Also known as All On Four or Teeth In A Day)
Each one of these has different pros and cons as to their uses and benefits. However, the absolute best way to replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant. An implant is basically a man-made tooth root that is placed into the bone. An abutment is screwed into the implant and a crown is then placed on top of the abutment. This is a permanent solution unlike partials or removable bridges.
If all your teeth are missing and you want a permanent solution, then an implant-supported hybrid bridge or what some call a fixed denture is the best solution. Four to six implants are placed precisely in your lower or upper arch. A set of dentures are then made to be placed on the implants and screwed down for a permanent fit. They look natural and are very strong. They also give you a really beautiful smile.
